What to work on first?

If you want to optimize your life there are many areas that you can work on. I think this mainly depends on what you see the most important for you at this moment in time. A couple of years ago I was single and my main focus was on finding the right person to be with. I invested a lot of time in dating and learning about the dynamics of relationships. At that time it was the most important area for me so I focused a lot of energy on it. Today I am in a great relationship. I found a person I love with all my heart and I am very happy. I feel that this is partly due to the effort I put in finding the right person. As I read many times: If you put it out there the universe will give it to you.

I guess what I am trying to say is that everybody has his own area where he wants to improve in first. My list right now will most likely not exactly match everybody else’s list. However, I believe that there are certain basics in life that are important for everybody to be happy and succeed. Here are the areas of life optimization I focus in at the moment:

  1. Life healthy. – This entails eating healthy & natural food, using natural & organic products in every area of life, exercise on a regular basis and have a healthy mind.
  2. Build wealth. – I strongly believe that financial freedom is a must to live the life you want. My goal is to archive financial freedom by the age of 35 (I am 28 right now), so I can invest my time and money 100% into causes I believe in. To archive this I will build multiple sources of income, keep lifestyle inflation to a minimum, pay myself first and invest my money.
  3. Build relationships. – You can’t be successful in this world as an isolated human being. I therefore strive to meet new people that can help me on my way. The more positive and inspirational people I know there more successful I will be. At the same time I hope to inspire other people along the way to start investing in their own life.
  4. Learning. – Never stop learning has been my motto for a long time. Even if I learn new things every day I feel there is so much more to know. I like to learn in all areas of life. You can never know enough! At the moment I focus on learning more about healthy foods, food preparation, investing and building an online business.

I will document my progress here in this blog, so I can share my knowledge and experiences with other people. It will also help me to stay on track and concentrate on my goals.

Where to find raw milk in Orange County

2 weeks ago I first heard about a book called Cure Tooth Decay. Since I had problems with cavities since I have been a teenager and always searched for ways to stop the decay and the drilling on my teeth I was excited to read this book. I will post a extensive review about the book in a later post. For now I can say I really like the book and the information makes sense to me. One point in the book is to drink raw milk instead of pasteurized milk for optimal health. I remember drinking raw milk when I was younger while hiking with my parents in the Alps of Bavaria and I really liked it. I was ready to try some raw milk and began my quest to the local health food stores and on the internet.

Online the only source for raw milk seemed to be Organic Pastures a farm in Northern California. On their website they state that their products are available in local health food stores in Orange County and Los Angeles. So last week I went to 2 different food markets I usually shop at. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. I found out that Trader Joe’s doesn’t have any raw milk while Whole Foods has raw milk but it is 10 Dollars for half a gallon. My next stop was Henry’s in Fullerton. This store also had the milk I was looking for and it was a little cheaper around 8 bucks. I bought some milk just to see if I like it and I have to admit I was very positive surprised. Raw milk tastes great and fresh and doesn’t have any strong flavor.

Since I still didn’t like the pricing very much I decided to write Organic Pastures to join a local Co-Op. I received a response after a couple of days that they would contact the Co-Op for me. A week later I received another email that they left a message for the Co-Op and are waiting for an answer. So far it has been 2 weeks but I still have hope to soon be able to by my milk locally and hopefully for a better price.

Since I had some time on the weekend I decided to check out Mother’s Market which is another health food store in Huntington Beach. It was close to the German Market where I buy my weakly rye bread, so I decided to give it a try. I found out that it was well worth the effort. 6.99 for half a gallon. The best price so far. I guess from now on I will get my milk here until I hear back from the Co-Op.

To find raw milk here in Southern California is definitely not easy, but it’s well worth it. I am excited to have found some places where I can buy raw milk since it is one very important part of my path to optimize my health. I wish my neighborhood stores Ralphs and Vons would carry it, but I for now it doesn’t look like that ill happen anytime soon.

The reason for this blog?

I personally feel that blogs are a great tool for sharing, education, growing and learning. This blog will be a record of my journey through life and my discoveries. I like to record my progress and share it with like minded people out there. I was thinking about starting a blog for a while, but I didn’t had the feeling that I was ready for it. Something was missing. The clear purpose for writing it. Today something happened to me that changed everything…

Let’s start from the beginning: Since I was a kid growing up I was always interested in things that could make my life better. Everytime life confronted me with a problem I wanted to find a way to solve it. I realized that unlike most people I don’t see life as something that happens to you. For me life was always about changing myself and finding ways for advancement. Often I feel very unique with this approach. Not many people understand this. Most people don’t like change and avoid it like hell. For me change is essential for life. Change makes life interesting and change helps me to be the person I want to be. Change is also difficult sometimes. Change means a lot of dicipline and frustration. Change means to constantly question yourself and your environment. It means question everything until you find the answer that really satisfies you. Change is not easy.

Since I like to challenge things in all areas of life the concept for a blog was never clear to me. I like to change my health, but didn’t want to soley concentrate on it. I like to change my finacial education, but didn’t want to start a financial blog. I like to learn about communication and relationships, but didn’t want to start a realtionship blog. Finally one concept that I use in my job as an online marketer stuck in my head. It was “optimization”. In my job I do a lot of web site optimization. I help people to increase their traffic to their websites and their rankings in the search engines. A process that makes a average websites into a popular place. I suddenly realized that this concept applies to me too. What I am doing by constantly educating and advancing myself in different areas of life was nothing else but life optimization. So this is what this blog is about: life optimization.

My goal is to document everything while I optimize my life step for step and maybe somebody that reads this will be able to use my information to optimize their own life. This blog will cover all areas of life that can be optimized. Basically everything. However I will only cover what I am working on (which is a lot). Themes will be about finances, health, education, spirituality, jobs, relationships and much more. I am excited for this journey to begin. Enough the talk. Let’s get started…
